BECA Scholarship Application Process Begins

BECA Announces 2013 St. Mary's County Common Scholarship Application schedule.

 

The 2013 St. Mary's County Common Scholarship Application is available for download at smcbeca.org . The deadline for submission is Friday, March 15, 2013.

BECA hosts the 7^th Annual Scholarship Fair on Monday, January 28, 2013, 4-7 pm, at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center. Come and meet the scholarship providers on the Common Scholarship Application. Workshops will be offered on the 2013 Common Scholarship Application and financial aid assistance.
 

BECA is also hosting its 5^th Annual Scholarship Benefit on Friday, March 15, 2013, 6-10 pm at Bowles Farms in Clements, MD. This year’s theme will be a barn dance like in 2012. Dress code is country casual attire. Dinner, auction, and entertainment provided. 

BECA will host the 7^th Annual Scholarship Awards Event on Friday, May 17, 2013, 4-5 pm at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center. 

2013 Common Scholarship Application features thirty-nine (39) different scholarships offered by local businesses, organizations, and individuals. Last year more than 100 local scholarships were awarded worth approximately $250,000 through the BECA Common Scholarship Application.

About BECA: The Business, Education and Community Alliance, Inc., known simply as BECA (pronounced beh-ka), is a local non-profit organization founded in 1989 jointly by the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce and Superintendent of Schools. BECA’s mission is to bring together business and community leaders interested in working more closely with our local school system to improve student success. BECA has awarded one-time scholarships to St. Mary’s High School graduating seniors since 1995. To date BECA has awarded about 170 scholarships totaling close to $150,000. BECA also administers the St. Mary's County Common Scholarship Application, allowing students to apply for numerous local scholarships using one application.
