May 16, 2014: Application Deadline (References, Scholarship Requests and Application Fee Due)

May 21, 2014: Scholarship Committee Determines Scholarship Recipients

May 23, 2014: Scholarship Recipients Notified via Email

June 14, 2014: Deadline for Medical Forms

June 14, 2014: Deadline for Tuition Payment $350

Meet our Executive Director

Helen Mattingly Wernecke assumed the Executive Director position at Leadership Southern Maryland in May 2014 shortly after retiring from the Department of the Navy with nearly 30 years of service. Over the course of her distinguished career where she earned a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources, she held progressively challenging positions in the fields of Administration, Business & Financial Management, Human Capital & Learning, and Logistics, culminating in a senior leadership position in the Acquisition & Program Management of Aviation Training Systems. Helen is a lifetime member of Women In Defense (WID) and volunteers her time to Trinity Lutheran Church. Born and raised in Southern Maryland, Helen resides in Leonardtown with her husband Ray and their two children, Kate and Samuel.
