SMRWA Needs Your Help!
Join the SMRWA for their 5th annual cleanup of the St. Mary's River. Volunteers will remove tires and hundreds of pounds of harmful and unsightly trash from the river. This yearly spring cleaning helps rid the waterway of hazards affecting water quality, wildlife and recreation. Join them April 6th!

The 13th Annual Empty Bowl Supper
St.
John Vianney will again host the 13th Annual Empty Bowl Supper on Saturday,
April 6, 2013 at their Family Life Center from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. After the
door-buster success of last year’s event, arrangements have been made to
accommodate a much larger crowd. For more information on how you can help, we

also invite you to visit the shelter. We are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a
year.

In 2012 ECHO House recorded 12,700 bed nights ( one bed, one person, one night), served 18,000 meals, and found stable employment for 94 residents and permanent housing for 40 men, women and families –– all on an annual budget of $240,000. AND you Empty Bowlers helped make it possible!

Upcoming Leadership Southern Maryland Events
March 7, 2013: Health Care Program
LSM Class of 2013 will spend the morning at one of the areas three hospitals and following the hospital activities, travel in their own vehicle to Walden Anchor facility in Charlotte Hall. There we have a tour, presentation, testimony and lunch. The last stop of the day is a short drive to Charlotte Hall Veteran’s Home where LSM will wrap up the day.
March 21, 2013: Education Program
We will spend the day at Calvert Fairgrounds, with one bus trip in the afternoon to Battle Creek Cypress Swamp. We will have an amazing Town Hall experience with more than 25 educators representing their unique programs in our region. There will be a luncheon catered by Trish Weaver of Dream Weaver’s CafĂ©. Representatives from Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Boards of Education will be with us, and a panel of students.
April 18, 2013: Economic & Workforce Development Program
We will spend the day at Blue Crabs Stadium in Waldorf! A day packed with regional deep dives regarding our topics.
May 2, 2013: Multiculturalism
Perhaps the most important program of the year, located at CSM Leonardtown. Followed by a reception where you are asked to invite one or many people who you believe made it possible and supported you as a member of LSM Class 2013 this past year.

May 3, 2013: Half Day Wrap-up Program
CSM Prince Frederick. You will be done by 1:00 at the latest.
May 3, 2013: Graduation Reception and Banquet
Chesapeake Beach Resort & Spa in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland in Calvert County; the reception begins at 6:00 p.m. and dinner is at 7:00 p.m. You may bring a guest. LSM provides your ticket. It is a fun and beautiful celebration.
May 23, 2013: LSM Heritage Award at Sotterley
This event is free for Alumni. Weather permitting it is a casual outdoor event and if weather is bad it will be in one of the barns. This is a gathering of alumni and recognition of a leader or leaders in our region who exemplify Leadership, or Service, or Mentoring. First year was “Leadership” and the Award was given to Wilson Parran. This year honors “Service” and next year honors “Mentoring”.
