As you know, military tensions in the East China Sea continue to increase and China’s rapid naval expansion, along with a willingness to use its increased economic power, have contributed to these rising tensions. The Patuxent Partnership and the Center for the Study of Democracy have invited Dr. Toshi Yoshihara to speak about China’s naval expansion and “The Future of Chinese Sea Power”. Dr. Yoshihara will address the implications for the U.S. and its strategic partners of China’s actions on Thursday, September 26th from 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s Hall at St. Mary’s College. Dr. Yoshihara holds the John A. Van Beuren Chair of Asia-Pacific Studies and is an affiliate member of the China Maritime Studies Institute at the U.S. Naval War College.
